YNAB's direct import covers banks in the US, Canada, and the UK well, and since 2025 it also reaches a selection of banks in about 18 European countries through Plaid. In practice, European coverage is thin: many banks don't appear in YNAB's institution search, especially Nordic, regional, and challenger banks, and New Zealand isn't covered at all. If your bank is missing, you connect through a sync service instead. Synci acts as that connector: you link your bank once through its own regulated open-banking login, and Synci keeps your YNAB budget accounts updated with new transactions and balances automatically.

YNAB in Norway
YNAB's direct import reaches only a handful of Norwegian banks, so most Norwegian budgeters sync through a connector. Synci covers DNB, the SpareBank 1 alliance, Nordea, Sparebanken Norge, Bank Norwegian, and most other Norwegian banks through regulated open banking.
YNAB in Denmark
YNAB's direct import lists only some Danish banks, and many local sparekasser aren't covered. Synci connects Danske Bank, Nordea, Jyske Bank, Sydbank, Arbejdernes Landsbank, Lunar, Lån & Spar, and dozens of local sparekasser to YNAB automatically.
YNAB in Sweden
YNAB's direct import covers only a selection of Swedish banks. Synci connects Swedbank, SEB, Handelsbanken, Nordea, Danske Bank, Länsförsäkringar, ICA Banken, and more, with transactions and balances updated automatically.

YNAB's direct import lists only a selection of German banks, and most Sparkassen and Volksbanken aren't covered. Synci connects Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, ING, DKB, comdirect, N26, the large Sparkassen and Volksbanken, and many more through regulated open banking.
YNAB in the Netherlands
YNAB's direct import covers only some Dutch banks. Synci connects ING, Rabobank, ABN AMRO, SNS, ASN Bank, bunq, Knab, and Triodos to YNAB, keeping your budget accounts current automatically.

YNAB's direct import covers many UK banks, but not all of them. Synci is an alternative route: it connects Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest, Monzo, Starling, and more through UK open banking.
